Hyaluronic acid - the Moisture molecule!

When people hear the word acid, they picture a dangerous chemical which will hurt, burn or peel off their skin. But not all acids are the same. Hyaluronic acid is a very unique substance that occurs naturally in the body.

By its nature, Hyaluronic acid retains water like a sponge, absorbing more than 1000 times its weight. It literally attracts airborn water particles from the atmosphere and retains this water, thus hydrating your skin and increasing its volume and density.

Hyaluronic acid first came to light when an ABC News reporter visited a small Japanese village named Yuzurihara. She found that the Japanese villagers in their 80's and 90's looked considerably younger than their western counterparts. Basically the report concluded that the villagers ate 'sticky vegetables' including a particular sweet potato, a sticky white potato and a potato root all found in the area. These vegetables were found to be rich in Hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid has been rapidly gaining in popularity as an active ingredient in topical skin care products because it produces results!
